SEC Should Reconsider Sarbanes-Oxley Extensions For Small Business
The Office of Advocacy today praised Securities and Exchange (SEC) Commissioners Paul Atkins and Kathleen Casey for their willingness to reconsider the SEC decision not to extend the deadline for small public firm compliance with section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Advocacy wrote to the commissioners in the wake of the SEC’s decision not to grant postponement of deadlines for public firms with less than $75 million in market value.

The fact that Andrew Miller and Michael Zapolin don't speak German was never a problem, until the two Internet investors decided to buy the domain name "choco-late.com." The owner, a man in Germany who didn't speak English, was content to paper the site with ads for chocolate companies and collect pocket change whenever someone clicked on one.

Tower Travel Management (www.towertravel.com), founded in 1979, provides corporate, online, meeting, and leisure travel services. In 2002, the company was operating offices in downtown Chicago and in Oak Brook, Illinois, but felt held back by its legacy phone system—an Avaya Legend PBX in each office. Tower decided to stick with Avaya, installing the IP Office 412 VoIP phone switch. Employees from the downtown Chicago office, armed with broadband, firewall, Avaya handsets, and PCs, began working from home. Tower closed the downtown Chicago office.
